I've been programming since I was thirteen, starting with mIRC scripting. I took computer science throughout high school and was running Linux and exploring open source at fifteen. Growing up in rural Manitoba with dial-up internet, I learned through experimentation and online communities.
I first attended university years ago, but financial constraints led me into full-time roofing work. I kept building personal projects while working in roofing and vehicle delivery. I was drawn to how skilled people organized tasks and improved efficiency, and often found myself thinking about the work algorithmically. Returning to university is a deliberate decision to pursue an interest that has stayed with me throughout those years.
I'm now a third-year B.A. Computer Science student at UBC. I own the end-to-end development of a dispatch portal, and the delivery business uses my trip estimator as its primary estimating tool. I'm looking to learn from experienced developers, contribute to a team, and explore areas of software I would not encounter on my own.
Outside computing, I enjoy music, concerts, comedy, cooking, travel, culture, and history. I also spend plenty of time tinkering with my Linux desktop.
Available for co-op from September 2027, up to three consecutive work terms.
